Letters and records
Soldiers' correspondence is among the most affecting material of the war. It is also the easiest to counterfeit, so nothing appears here that is not genuine and rights-cleared.
Letters written home by Indian soldiers on the Western Front survive in part because they were read by censors, whose reports preserved extracts that would otherwise have been lost. Canadian soldiers' letters, diaries and service files survive in national and regimental collections.
This page will hold the material connected to this memorial — transcribed, translated where needed, and attributed.

Until they are, this page stays empty. Invented correspondence, or generated imagery styled to look like a historical document, will not be published here in any form.
