The Memorial

Memory takes root

Stone records a name. A tree keeps growing after everyone who planted it has gone. The memorial is built from both.

Heritage trees are planted across the memorial grounds as a living part of the design. They line the pathways, mark the reflection areas, and change the character of the site through the seasons.

The intention is that each tree can carry a dedication — a name, a regiment, a family's connection to the war — so that walking the grounds becomes a way of reading the history rather than being told it.

Tree records not yet published

The interactive tree map — tree number, species, dedication, honouree, sponsor, planting date and location on the grounds — is built and waiting on the register.

Dedication and sponsor details identify real families, so none of it is published without their written permission.
